1. Installation on a level paved surface
The most common and straightforward solution is installation on a solid paved base, such as paving slabs, block paving or a concrete slab.
The surface must be:
Suitable surfaces:
Paving slabs • Block paving • Concrete floor or concrete slab
Not suitable:
Decking boards • Gravel grids • Gravel • Sand • Loose rubble
Practical advice
Use a spirit level of at least 180 cm in length. For the best result, the bubble should sit exactly in the centre.
Please note
Landscapers and paving contractors often work with a slight drainage slope. Always make it clear that the surface for your outdoor building must be completely level.
2. Installation on concrete edging beams and foundation pads
If a paved foundation is not possible or preferred, installation on concrete edging beams and foundation pads is an excellent alternative.
Important considerations for this option:
Create a stable sand base using 20 to 30 cm of compacted white sand
Agree a fixed height reference point in advance with your landscaper or contractor
Ensure the foundation pads are placed at the exact correct height in relation to the future paving level
This method creates a strong and durable foundation, even on less stable ground conditions.
