Wood types

At Lugarde, every outdoor building begins with choosing the right timber. We work with carefully selected wood from Northern and Western Europe, chosen for its quality, character and durability. The result is an outdoor space designed to complement both your garden and the way you live.

The type of timber you choose shapes not only the appearance of your outdoor building, but also its performance, maintenance and lifespan. Each wood species has its own natural qualities, allowing you to select the finish and character that best suits your wishes.

Lugarde timber types

At Lugarde, craftsmanship is something you can see and feel in every detail. That is why we use only the finest sections of each tree trunk. For our windows and doors, the timber is carefully selected, laminated and finger-jointed to minimise warping and maximise stability. Because our wood comes from colder climates, the trees grow more slowly, creating strong and stable timber that remains beautiful for years to come.

You can also trust that your outdoor building is produced responsibly. All our suppliers are PEFC-certified, and leftover timber and sawdust are reused to heat our factory and create briquettes. This way, nothing goes to waste and every outdoor building contributes to a more sustainable future.

Larch timber

Larch grows in the coldest regions of Northern Europe and is known for its natural strength and durability. Untreated, a larch outdoor building typically lasts around 15 to 20 years. Its warm yellow tones bring natural character to your garden and gradually weather into a beautiful silver-grey finish over time.

Douglas fir timber

Douglas fir from Western Europe combines strength with a robust and natural appearance. Untreated, a Douglas fir outdoor building generally lasts 10 to 15 years. The timber develops from a light yellow-red tone into a richer yellow-brown colour that ages beautifully over time.

Spruce timber

Our Scandinavian spruce grows slowly in cold climates, visible in its fine growth rings and even structure. The timber is carefully kiln-dried to a moisture content of 14 to 16 percent, helping to minimise movement and deformation.

This precision ensures every component fits together perfectly, down to the millimetre, creating an outdoor building with exceptional stability and craftsmanship.

Sustainable and environmentally conscious

With Lugarde, you choose an outdoor building that not only looks beautiful, but also feels right. For every tree we use, an average of 1.2 new trees are replanted. Our timber comes from responsibly managed forests, and all of our suppliers are PEFC-certified. Your outdoor building is fully recyclable and produced with respect for both people and nature.

We also take a conscious approach to materials within our factory. Leftover timber and sawdust are given a second life as a heat source and as briquettes. In this way, we reduce waste and minimise our environmental impact.
